Upcoming Retreat Days:

Sunday March 17th 9:30am-3:30pm
Sunday April 14th 9:30am-3:30pm

A day of Sound Bathing, Yoga Nidra, Kirtan, Qigong, OM Chanting and community connection with Justine Sanderson, Jay Robinson and Kathy Timmermanis!

Immerse yourself in waves of wellness with sound as your guide during this special day long retreat featuring our favourite offerings and some highly requested classics from the past (Om circle!!)

This retreat will fill your cup and nourish not only your heart and mind but also your spirit!

Our day together is purposefully arranged to maximize the flow of each of these potent and beautiful offerings for you.

We will start our morning with Kathy Timmermanis as she guides us through a Qigong practice to gently awaken and energize the body. This will set a solid holistic foundation for more introspective practices as we focus our awareness and optimize our physical energy.

Next, we will lay down comfortably and Kathy will lead us through a Yoga Nidra practice. Yoga Nidra is a gentle and intentional ancient form of guided meditation that will allow us to explore a vastly deeper level of mental relaxation and introspection.

We will finish our morning with a 1-hour Kirtan session lead by Kathy, Justine and Jay with harmonium, tabla and voice chanting musical mantras and connecting to our voices and the voices of the group through this heart-opening practice. The uplifting and communal nature of this Kirtan session following the introspection of Yoga Nidra will allow us to foster an enhanced sense of shared experience and deeply rooted group connection.

Following a lunch break (we are literally steps away from the best restaurants and coffee spots in the area!) we will start our afternoon with a 60 minute Sound Bath by Justine and Jay featuring 8+ Gongs, Handpan, Crystal Singing Bowls and more.

We will finish our day together with a special offering connecting to the primordial vibration of OM (AUM) which we will open chant together as group for 45 minutes!

That’s right, OM is back and it is going to be a beautiful and intentional resonance created together to wrap up this day of good vibes, deep connections and relaxation!

What is Qigong?

Qigong is a holistic system of coordinated body posture, slow flowing movement and a calm mindful state coupled with breathing, and meditation used for health, spirituality, and martial arts training. Qigong is a component of traditional Chinese medicine and has roots dating back more than 4,000 years,

Qigong is known for its ability to improve mental and physical health by enhancing the balance and flow of energy in the body and regular practice can lead to improved health and vitality, increased energy and stamina, reduced stress, and greater harmony and balance in one’s life.

What is Yoga Nidra?

In Yoga Nidra, often referred to as "yogic sleep,"  practitioners lie down in a comfortable position and are guided through a systematic relaxation process, which leads to a state between wakefulness and sleep.

The benefits of Yoga Nidra are extensive: it promotes deep relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety, improves sleep, and can foster a greater sense of self-awareness and inner peace.

Additionally, Yoga Nidra has been used therapeutically to manage chronic pain, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and depression.

What is Kirtan?

Kirtan is a form of devotional chanting whose roots lie in Indian traditions. It involves call-and-response chanting performed in a group setting, often accompanied by musical instruments like harmoniums, tabla, and cymbals.

Kirtan dates back over 500 years and was popularized by Bhakti saints. The repetitive nature of the chants helps participants to immerse themselves in the sound, which can lead to a meditative state.

Kirtan is known to create a sense of community and connectedness, reduce stress, and promote feelings of peace and joy. It is also considered a path to spiritual growth and self-realization.

What is a Sound Bath?

A Sound Bath is a meditative experience where individuals are "bathed" in sound waves produced by various sources like gongs, singing bowls, percussion, chimes, or voice.

This practice dates back to ancient Greece and Tibet, where instruments like gongs and singing bowls were used for healing and ceremonial purposes. During a sound bath, participants lie down in a comfortable position and allow the resonant frequencies of these instruments to envelop them.

The benefits of a sound bath include deep relaxation, stress reduction, and a decrease in anxiety and tension.

The vibrations can help to unblock energy and promote a state of balance and well-being, potentially aiding in healing and promoting deeper sleep.

What is OM Chanting?

Om Chanting is a practice involving the vocalization of the "Om" sound, considered a sacred syllable in Hinduism and other Indian religions. This ancient technique, dating back thousands of years in Vedic traditions, is often used at the beginning and end of yoga sessions.

Chanting Om is believed to resonate at the frequency of the universe, promoting a sense of oneness and connection. The benefits of Om chanting include reduced stress, improved concentration, relaxation of the body and mind, and enhanced mental clarity.

Physiologically, it can help in stabilizing the heart rate, calming the nervous system, and lowering blood pressure.

The practice is also said to aid in personal transformation and the deepening of one's spiritual practice.
